Cell wall modifications lead to cultivar differences in apple (Malus domestica) fruit mealiness

چکیده
Recently, four quantitative trait loci linked to flesh mealiness in apples were identified, with one associated the MdPG1 allele. Hence, this study analyzed cell wall changes two mealy (Orin and Akane) three non-mealy (Kiou, Kitaro, Fuji) apple cultivars during ripening. The fruits harvested for each cultivar at optimum maturity stored 20°C 20 days. firmness of ‘Kitaro’ ‘Fuji’ fruit did not change strikingly over days, whereas that other cultivars, especially ‘Akane’ ‘Orin’, gradually decreased Between a texture, produced extremely low levels ethylene, ‘Orin’ high levels. water-soluble polyuronide (WSP) contents ‘Kiou’ clearly. In contrast, WSP increased ‘Kiou’, ‘Kitaro’, fruit, molecular-mass distributions WSPs Conversely, distribution exhibited downshifts These results indicate solubilization depolymerization pectic polyuronides occur ripening ethylene may be involved these changes.

Triterpenes and Phenolic Compounds in Apple Fruit (Malus domestica Borkh.)
Apple (Malus × domestica Borkh.), a popular and widely cultivated fruit world-wide, contains bioactive triterpenes and phenolic compounds with potentially valuable pharmacological functions. This thesis investigated the effects of pre-harvest and postharvest factors on concentrations of these bioactive compounds in apples. It also studied the effect of ozone treatment, before or during storage,...
متن کاملPhytohormone Interaction Modulating Fruit Responses to Photooxidative and Heat Stress on Apple (Malus domestica Borkh.)
Sun-related physiological disorders such as sun damage on apples (Malus domestica Borkh) are caused by cumulative photooxidative and heat stress during their growing season triggering morphological, physiological, and biochemical changes in fruit tissues not only while it is on the tree but also after it has been harvested. The objective of the work was to establish the interaction of auxin (in...
متن کاملGenomic Selection for Fruit Quality Traits in Apple (Malus×domestica Borkh.)
The genome sequence of apple (Malus×domestica Borkh.) was published more than a year ago, which helped develop an 8K SNP chip to assist in implementing genomic selection (GS). In apple breeding programmes, GS can be used to obtain genomic breeding values (GEBV) for choosing next-generation parents or selections for further testing as potential commercial cultivars at a very early stage. Thus GS...
متن کاملComprehensive QTL mapping survey dissects the complex fruit texture physiology in apple (Malus x domestica Borkh.).
Fruit ripening is a complex physiological process in plants whereby cell wall programmed changes occur mainly to promote seed dispersal. Cell wall modification also directly regulates the textural properties, a fundamental aspect of fruit quality. In this study, two full-sib populations of apple, with 'Fuji' as the common maternal parent, crossed with 'Delearly' and 'Pink Lady', were used to un...
متن کاملSpatial development of transport structures in apple (Malus × domestica Borkh.) fruit
The void network and vascular system are important pathways for the transport of gases, water and solutes in apple fruit (Malus × domestica Borkh). Here we used X-ray micro-tomography at various spatial resolutions to investigate the growth of these transport structures in 3D during fruit development of "Jonagold" apple. The size of the void space and porosity in the cortex tissue increased con...
